The blue hesperid palm ( Brahea armata ) is a species of the genus Brahea , which is assigned to the palm family (Arecaceae).

The blue hesperid palm grows with a single stem . Its silver-blue fan leaves are characteristic . The very long inflorescences that reach up to 5 meters below the leaf crown are a clear identification feature.
The Latin epithet “armata” means “armed with spikes”; the silver-blue stems of the fan leaves are thorny.
Occurrence
Brahea armata is native to the desert areas of northwestern Mexico , it can be found in areas such as Baja California Norte , in northern Baja California Sur and in western Sonora . There it grows in canyons , on rocky slopes and cliffs at altitudes between 50 and 1500 meters, often together with Washigtonia .
