Blersum is a district of the city of Wittmund in the district of the same name in Lower Saxony .

Blersum is 4 kilometers northwest of Wittmund and has been part of the city since the municipal territorial reform in 1972. Geographically, the place is located on the northern Geestrand . The march follows directly north of the village .

history

Blersum Church

In 1420 the parish Blersum was assigned to the Sendkirche Wittmund. Both places belonged to the diocese of Bremen . The church building was completed around 1250/1270. The lower area of the church consists of granite ashlar stones , the upper area, up to the roof , of brick masonry . The church also has a preserved apse . The altar from 1649 and the font from the 12th century are worth seeing . In 1579 the place was recorded on a map.

In the 16th century the place was connected to the East Frisian network of roads with a byway of the main Wittmund-Esens connection .

Blersum is also part of the old Harlingerland . With the establishment of the offices in the time of the counts and princes around 1730, the place belongs to the Wittmund office.

The place was given in 1730 with the spelling Bleerssum ; It was not until the 19th century that the current name Blersum was established.

On August 16, 1972 Blersum was incorporated into the district town of Wittmund.
