Blood Incantation is an American death metal band from Denver , Colorado that was formed in 2011.

history

The band was formed in 2011. On the 2015 EP Interdimensional Extinction , Damon Good can be heard as a guest bassist, as the band has not yet had a full line-up. At that time, the band also toyed with the idea of ​​using three guitarists, which they later discarded. After that, the band held various tours with various bands. In January 2016, the group and producer Pete DeBoer headed to World Famous Studios in Denver to record their debut album , Starspawn . The album was released on August 18, 2016 on Dark Descent Records . In 2017 the group performed at the Braincrusher Festival . The performance was part of a tour with Cruciamentum . In 2018, the group could be seen at the Party.San, among other things .

Spitzl from voicesfromthedarkside.de stated in his review of Interdimensional Extinction that you can hear solid Death Metal with a few nice ideas, but it never comes as a surprise. There is a deep atmosphere, dissonant melodies, thundering drums and guttural singing . The songwriting moves between uninspired and insecure. Occasionally, elements of progressive and doom metal as well as breaks and samples are used. The technical ability of the music to play was positively highlighted. In an interview with Dutch Pearce from decibelmagazine.com , Paul Riedl stated that the band did without things like triggers , click tracks or quantization for their debut album and that the only digital artifacts from post-production can still be heard. The only overdubs are vocal passages, some synthesizers and solos . Riedl also stated that he usually writes the basic structure for the songs, which is then worked out together with the other members. Jon Rosenthal from invisibleoranges.com wrote that the band builds their music on classic Death Metal and enriches it with more modern elements, which makes the music sound unique. On Starspawn you can hear similarities to Timeghoul , Gorguts and Morbid Angel , although the progressiveness of Deaths Leprosy and the wildness of the Mithras album Forever Advancing ...... Sebastian Schilling from Rock Hard described the songs on the debut album as overly long and quite unstructured. In addition, they “often seem like introspective jamming”, although the album has a warm and analogue sound. Occasionally you fall into shoegazing , so that you almost forget that you are listening to a death metal album. The growling never seems out of place, however, as “the sprawling soundscapes are reduced back to robust riffs”, which creates a framework for the music. In a later edition, Schilling described the group's music as “earthy and at the same time spacey Morbid Angel meets Timeghoul Death Metal”. In an interview with him, Paul Riedl stated that the band's lyrics are about aliens and how they influenced human history.
