Bo Folke Johnson Theutenberg (born May 14, 1942 in Trollhättan ) is a Swedish diplomat and legal scholar .

Life

Bo Johnson Theutenberg joined the Swedish Air Force in 1962 and started his career as an officer. He studied law at Uppsala University from 1963 to 1966 . He was attaché at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Stockholm and advisor to the Commander-in-Chief of the Swedish Armed Forces on international law. He has worked in Moscow , New York and Baghdad , among others . In 1972 he received his doctorate in law under Carl August Fleischer at Stockholm University . In 1976 he changed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1978 he was appointed to the rank of ambassador.

From 1976 to 1987 he was a member of the Swedish delegation to the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe . Between 1980 and 1982 he took part in the negotiations between Sweden and the Holy See to establish official diplomatic relations. As a conference participant for the international Antarctic treaty , he set the Swedish flag on January 10, 1985 at the South Pole at the Scott Amundsen research station. In 2002 and 2004 he was a member of the delegation of the Holy See to the Stockholm International Forum on the Holocaust , a cooperation for justice, reconciliation and genocide prevention.

In 1984, he received a call on the Department of International and Diplomatic Law at the University of Stockholm . Special areas of teaching and research are Muslim law ( Sharia ) and comparative law .

Bo Johnson Theutenberg is Commander-in-Chief of the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem and was the first governor of the newly established Lieutenancy of Sweden from 2003 to 2007. On March 27, 2012 he was appointed to the Grand Magisterium of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem by Cardinal Grand Master Edwin Frederick O'Brien . He was also Chancellor of the Sovereign Order of Malta .

He has published numerous works on Islamic law, international law, international law and Swedish medieval history with a focus on Christianity.
