Bob Rafelson
Bob Rafelson (born February 21, 1933 in New York City ) is an American film director .
Life
Rafelson is one of the young directors who revolutionized the dormant Hollywood with sophisticated scripts and films at the end of the 1960s and thus belongs to the group of directors of New Hollywood . After beating his way through life doing odd jobs, Rafelson studied philosophy . He came to film through television. He won an Emmy Award in the mid-1960s for creating the first artificially televised pop group, The Monkees . He also shot his first film Head with them . Five Easy Pieces 1970 was one of the forerunners of American auteur films. For this film he was nominated for an Oscar in the categories of Best Picture and Best Screenplay . He was honored as Best Director at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards .
