Bobby Joseph Hebert, Jr. (* 19th August 1960 in Cut Off , Louisiana ) is a sports commentator and a former US American football poker players at the position of quarterback in the United States Football League (USFL) and the National Football League (NFL).

Early years

Hebert went to high school in Cut Off , Louisiana . He later attended Northwestern State University .

USFL

In 1983 and 1984, Hebert played for the Michigan Panthers in the United States Football League . In his first year he won the league championship with the Panthers and was also voted Most Valuable Player in the championship game against the Philadelphia Stars . In 1985 he played one more season for the Oakland Invaders , which were merged with the Michigan Panthers, in the USFL with whom he reached the championship game for the second time. This time, however, they lost against the Philadelphia Stars with 28:24.

NFL

New Orleans Saints

For the 1985 NFL season , Hebert signed a contract with the New Orleans Saints . In his first three years in the NFL, he was often used, if only sporadically. In the 1988 season he played in all 16 games in the NFL. In 1991 and 1992 he was the starting quarterback for the Saints.

Atlanta Falcons

For the 1993 NFL season , he signed a contract with the Atlanta Falcons and was immediately elected to the Pro Bowl in his first season . In 1994 and 1995 he was only intended as a backup quarterback for Jeff George . For the 1996 season he was set back on the position of quarterback. After the season, however, he announced the end of his career.

After the sports career

Hebert owns a restaurant in Metairie , Louisiana . He also works as a sports commentator for the radio station WWL .
