history

Boise City was founded in 1908 by JE Stanley and AJ Kline, who touted it as an elegant, tree-lined city with solid roads, eclectic businesses, railroad connections and natural fountains. They sold 3,000 parcels to settlers who upon arrival discovered that none of these claims were true. Stanley and Kline were convicted of fraud.

The settlement was built nonetheless and in 1920 had 250 inhabitants. Boise suffered from the dust storms in the Dust Bowl in the 1930s , which temporarily stunted his development.
