Boje Maaßen (born June 11, 1939 in Elmshorn ) is a German educator and specialist author . The former Academic Senior Councilor of the University of Flensburg was a co-founder of the Green Party .

Life

After visiting the elementary school and the completion of a butcher apprenticeship completed Maaßen the levels at night school before the Holsten and completed the teacher training program at. Afterwards he worked as a secondary school teacher on Föhr . In addition, he began to publish specialist pedagogical articles. A first independent book was published in 1973 by the Neue-Deutsche-Schule-Verlagsgesellschaft in Essen with environmental protection in the classroom: materials, learning objectives, teaching units .

In the second half of the 1970s, Maaßen was a co-founder of the Schleswig-Holstein Green List and at the same time leader and top candidate of the organization. In 1978 he moved with the GLSH into the district council of North Friesland , of which he remained a member until 1982. In the state elections in Schleswig-Holstein in 1983 , he finally acted as the top candidate for the Green Party. Shortly after the election, the Greens clearly failed because of the five percent threshold, he resigned from the party.

In 1987 Maaßen was appointed as a lecturer at the University of Flensburg (then still a college of education ), where he worked at the Institute for School Education . In 1994 he received his doctorate there on the subject of experiencing nature ( contributions to the theory of experiencing nature as an educational response to the ecological crisis ). This was followed by his appointment as senior academic councilor at the university.

The focus of Maassen's scientific work, which continues to find expression in specialist articles and book publications, is action theory , image and word, theory of self-movement and ecological education . An appreciation of his unconventional didactic concepts can be found in Gerd Heursen's book on Unusual Didactics (1997). Maaßen is also represented with a contribution in the extensive standard work General and Differential in Pedagogical Thinking (2008).

Maassen is married and lives in Flensburg .

Scientific work: Self-movement and sensuality

Boje Maassen's extensive work on the subject of " proper movement and sensuality" is recognized as "fundamental" in the professional world.

By Maaßen, self-movement refers to movement that changes location, which occurs with the help of the body's own muscles, for example walking, cycling or skating. The focus is on personal movements in everyday life and less in the context of sport.

He outlines his central thought as follows:

The proper movement is an anthropological and thus a political term. From my perspective, self-movement is the central opposition term to the current "way of life", which is increasingly replacing self-movement with external movement, so that life is drastically reduced in all areas and can only be found in shrinking forms and stagings. External movement is understood here to mean being transported and not external movements.
