Adam Bomb (* 1963 as Adam Brenner ) is a guitarist and singer from Seattle (Washington, USA).

Career

In 1979 he founded the cover band Tyrant together with Geoff Tate (the later founder and singer of Queensrÿche ) . They covered songs by Rush , UFO , Scorpions and Van Halen .

In 1980 he joined the band TKO , which was already known nationwide in the USA. In 1981 the album In Your Face was recorded in the Sea-West Studio of Rick Asher Keefer in Hawaii .

In 1981 Adam auditioned for Kiss in Los Angeles. The band was looking for a replacement for Ace Frehley . He played three songs with Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and Eric Carr. He was quite convincing, but was not accepted due to his young age.

In 1982 Adam left TKO and moved to Hollywood, LA to look for a new band. I.a. he shared an apartment with guitarist Jeff Isbell, who called himself " Izzy " and later co-founded Guns N 'Roses . The rock band Black N 'Blue lived next door . Bomb made friends with their guitarist Tommy Thayer (now guitarist with Kiss ), who recommended him to start a solo project and call it "Adam Bomb".

In 1983 he recorded the first demos for a later album together with producer Rick Asher Keefer . In the same year Adam replaced Yngwie Malmsteen for two concerts in the band Steeler , which was later to be renamed Keel .

In 1984 Adam signed a recording deal with Geffen Records. His manager was David Krebs, who also represented Aerosmith . The Adam Bomb Band consisted of Billy Idol drummer Greg Gerson, Billy Idol / Riot bassist Phil Feit and Aerosmith guitarist Jimmy Crespo.

In 1985 the first Adam Bomb album “Fatal Attraction” was released, on which AC / DC bassist Cliff Williams played the song I Want MY Heavy Metal . Due to internal differences at Geffen Records, there was only insufficient advertising for the album. A tour as a support act with the Scorpions had failed and there was only a small tour with live performances in California (including the sold out Troubadour in Los Angeles and Wolfgang's in San Francisco) and in New York. There was also a legendary appearance that was completely wrongly chosen by the record company as the opening act for the two thrash metal bands Metallica and Armored Saint in the sold-out Palladium in Los Angeles. As a representative of glam rock, the band had a hard time with thrash metal fans and was mercilessly booed. The Los Angeles Times wrote: "On a different night - or a different bill - perhaps Adam Bomb's opening set of hard rock would have carried some distinction. But Sunday the local band was simply outclassed by Armored Saint, and outcrassed by Metallica . "

In the following years Bomb played live with musicians such as Chuck Berry , Johnny Thunders and Steve Stevens and recorded a new album in London. Sue and Sunny , who had already worked with T.Rex, David Bowie and Joe Cocker, worked as background singers. First the album should be called Dangerous When Lit.

In 1990 it finally appeared under the name Pure SEX. The pictures for the cover and also for the cover of the single Pure SEX come from a photoshoot with Mick Rock .

Later the albums "New York Times" (1991) and "Grave New World" (1993) were recorded. On the last-mentioned album, Bomb took on the vocal part, the guitar and the keyboard. Other musicians on this album were: Barbara Paige (vocals), Steve James (bass, acoustic guitar, backing vocal; previously a member of The Dogs D'Amour ) and Danny "Up Time" Steiner (drums).

On April 10, 2017, Adam's first book, "Bomb" Brenner, entitled 911 is Disconnected: So This is Rock and Roll was published .

The follow-up Druggy Stardust & The Empress of Clubland: 911 is Disconnected - Volume 2 was released worldwide on November 1st, 2017.
