The nearest town is the Seja Rajon administrative center, about 150 km as the crow flies in a south-westerly direction . Bomnak is connected to the Ulak train station on the Baikal-Amur Magistrale (BAM; parallel line to the Trans-Siberian Railway ), which is a good 25 km away and belongs to the nearby settlement of Gorny , via an unpaved road . On the other bank of the Seja Reservoir, about 20 km away is the Verkhneseisk settlement, which can be reached by boat (also at the BAM). Bomnak is the only village in the rural municipality of Bomnakskoje selskoje posselenije.

history

From October 20, 1932, Bomnak was the administrative seat of the Bomnakski rajon, initially named after him, which was renamed Seisko-Uschurski rajon a little later (after the rivers Seja and Uchur ; this name had previously been carried by an Ewenian national rajon in the area since December 10, 1930 ). From July 22, 1934, Ort and Rajon belonged to the short-lived Seja Oblast , until it was dissolved on September 26, 1937 and attached to Chita Oblast . At the 1939 census, the village had 717 inhabitants. On August 2, 1948, Bomnak and the Seisko-Uschurski rajon, along with most of the area of the former Seja Oblast, were transferred to the Amur Oblast. On September 3, 1953, the Rajon was dissolved and Bomnak has belonged to the Seiski rajon ever since.
