Bonded is a German thrash metal band from Dortmund .

history

In January 2018 the band Sodom, in the person of singer and bassist Tom Angelripper, announced the separation from guitarist Bernd "Bernemann" Kost and drummer Markus "Makka" Freiwald . The two musicians who were killed then decided to start a new band. Second guitarist was Chris Tsitsis, who previously played in the bands Suicidal Angels and Exarsis , while Marc Hauschild took over bass . Tsitis and Hauschild both previously worked as guitar technicians at Sodom. After a long search Ingo Bajonczak, who is also still active with Assassin , became the singer of the band . The search for a band name also turned out to be difficult. Whenever an idea came up, the musicians quickly realized that the name was already taken. Eventually the name Bonded was found, which according to Kost is short, sounds good and makes a strong statement.

In September 2019, Bonded were signed by the record label Century Media . Together with producer Cornelius "Corny" Rambadt, the band recorded their debut album Rest in Violence , for which numerous ideas were used that Kost and Freiwald originally wrote for Sodom. The overkill singer Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth and the former Kreator bassist Christian “Speesy” Giesler can be heard as guest musicians on the theme song . In November 2019 Bonded played at the Metal Hammer Paradise festival . The publication of rest in Violence took place 84th in the German album charts on 17 January 2020 and reached.

style

Bonded belong to the Thrash Metal genre. Philipp Gravenhorst from the online magazine Metal.de wrote that Bonded continued the path of the last Sodom album Decision Day recorded with Kost and Freiwald , while Sodom was more oriented towards its heyday of the 1980s. In contrast, Bonded would refreshingly break with some Thrash conventions. Marc Halupczok from the German magazine Metal Hammer described Bonded's music as "more experimental than Sodom" and Ingo Bajonczak's voice as "more variable than Tom Angelripper's".

Singer Ingo Bajonczak writes socially critical texts that are also inspired by horror and science fiction . So is Je Suis Charlie from the terrorist attack on the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo . Galaxy M87, on the other hand, is about the fictional journey of humans to the galaxy Messier 87 , where a black hole was photographed for the first time in 2019 . People travel there to see what is hidden behind the black hole.
