Boris Moiseevich Rudjak

Boris Moissejewitsch Rudjak ( Ukrainian Борис Мойсейович Рудяк * 23. December 1923 in Kupel , Rajon Volochysk , Khmelnytskyi Oblast , Ukrainian SSR , † the thirtieth December 1999 in Dossenheim , Germany) was a Ukrainian - Soviet archivist , historian and staff of the Marx-Engels -Total edition .

Life

Rudjak was born into a Ukrainian Jewish family. After attending school in Poltava , he studied mathematics at Leningrad University . After Hitler's Germany attacked the Soviet Union on June 22, 1942, he was deployed in defense work in the Poltava area, was evacuated to Central Asia and then served as an officer in the Red Army from 1942 to 1944 . After being seriously wounded, he headed the Poltowa City Museum from 1944 to 1945. From 1945 to 1950 he studied history at Moscow's Lomonosov University and graduated as a historian. His next activity was in Moscow's Mikhail Kalinin Museum. Here he received his doctorate in 1958 on Kalinin. hist. From 1960 he worked at the Moscow Institute for Marxism-Leninism , from 1963 to 1969 as deputy director of the Marx-Engels Museum. As a scientific archivist he was in the Marx-Engels section of the Central Party Archives of the CPSU in 1969 , responsible for the procurement and indexing of new Marx-Engels documents. So he succeeded u. a. Acquire photo albums and books from the Longuet family ( Frédéric Longuet ). At the beginning of the 1970s he was appointed to the editorial committee of Section IV of the Marx-Engels Complete Edition. In the 1980s, Rudjak succeeded in proving that instead of Karl Marx's wife Jenny von Westphalen and her daughter Jenny , five photographs actually show Gertrud Kugelmann , the wife of the physician Louis Kugelmann and her daughter Franziska .

A serious chronic heart disease caused Rudjak to move to Germany with his wife Esther in the early 1990s. He died on December 30, 1999 in Dossenheim, Baden.
