Rolf Hecker

Rolf Hecker (born June 7, 1953 in Leipzig ) is a German Marxist economist and editor .

Life

Rolf Hecker attended secondary school ( POS ) and extended secondary school (EOS) in Leipzig. In 1972 he passed his Abitur at the ABF of the Martin Luther University Halle . He studied from 1972 to 1977 at the Lomonossow University in Moscow and graduated from the Faculty of Economics in 1977 with a Dipl.-Ök. from. He graduated ibid a postgraduate at the Department of History of economic doctrines and doctorate in 1981 for Dr. oek . From 1980 to 1990 he worked in the "Marx-Engels-Department" of the Institute for Marxism-Leninism at the Central Committee of the SED in Berlin as secretary of the department management, then as sector manager until its dissolution in 1990. He was a member of the editorial committee of Marx-Engels - Total edition (MEGA) (1989). In 1988 he received his doctorate with the thesis: “The development of the theory of value in the economic manuscript 'On the Critique of Political Economy' from 1861 to 1863 and in the first volume of 'Capital' by Karl Marx . The significance of the third German edition of the first volume of 'Capital' from 1883 in the history of the development of political economy and the German labor movement ”at the Scientific Council of the IML at the Central Committee of the SED ( doctorate B ) and was appointed professor for the history of the labor movement without teaching duties .

He was a co-founder of the “Berlin Association for the Promotion of MEGA Edition eV” and has been its honorary chairman since 1997. Together with Richard Sperl and Carl-Erich Vollgraf, he has been editor of the articles on Marx-Engels research since 1991 . New episode in which Marx-Engels researchers from different countries publish their research results and contributions to the discussion. With the volumes of documents he edited on Ryazanow and the first MEGA , on the cooperation between the Frankfurt Institute for Social Research and the Moscow Institute, on the end of the MEGA by Stalin , on Isaak Ilyich Rubin and on the Russian and German Marx-Engels editions (1945–1968) important documents on the history of Marx-Engels research edited for the first time.

After a short period of unemployment, Hecker worked in the “MEGA job” at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences (1992–95).

From 1991 to 1997 he was a member of the editorial team of the Historical-Critical Dictionary of Marxism. (Volumes 1 to 3). He has been a member of the Leibniz Society of Sciences in Berlin since 2007. Hecker is a member of the scientific advisory board of the “ International Critical Thought ” journal of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences ( ISSN  2159-8282 ).

He was on 14./15. June 2013 honored with a colloquium at which Martin Hundt gave the laudation. Hecker has been visiting professor at Renmin University Beijing since 2017 .

Rolf Hecker lives with his wife in Berlin and has two sons.
