Eike Robert Kopf (born November 17, 1940 in Bollstedt ) is a Marxist philosopher and Marx-Engels researcher.

Life

Kopf comes from a family of farm workers. He attended elementary school in Bollstedt from 1947 to 1955 and then until 1961 the high school in Mühlhausen , where he passed the Abitur. He had been a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) since 1960 . From 1959 to 1961 he was Secretary of the Free German Youth at the Extended High School. From 1961 to 1966 he studied philosophy, economics and history at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig and the Friedrich Schiller University Jena (FSU). He completed his studies as a graduate philosopher.

From 1964 to 1967 he was an assistant and aspirant at the FSU Jena. From 1965 to 1967 he was also a teacher at the Extended High School in Mühlhausen. In 1967 he was at the University of Jena with a thesis about the effects of the Capital of Karl Marx in Germany until 1872 to Dr. phil. PhD.

From 1967 to 1969 he worked as a research assistant for philosophy at the Pedagogical Institute in Mühlhausen , where he founded the research group Marx-Engels Research , which from 1978 worked on the editing of volumes of the historical-critical Marx-Engels Complete Edition (MEGA). He headed this research group until 2004. From 1969 to 1972 and from 1974 to 1982 Kopf was a lecturer in philosophy at the University of Education (PH) Erfurt / Mühlhausen. From 1969 to 1972 he was honorary secretary of the SED in the Mühlhausen university area of ​​the PH Erfurt / Mühlhausen. From 1972 to 1974 Kopf was the main consultant for the study of the basics of Marxism-Leninism at the Pedagogical Universities of the German Democratic Republic in the main department of teacher training of the Ministry of National Education of the GDR in Berlin.

In 1974 he received his habilitation at the PH Potsdam on the history of the impact of capital in the last third of the 19th century. This was followed in 1975 by postgraduate training at Lomonossow University in Moscow with TI Oiserman . He then worked as a visiting professor of philosophy at the State Pedagogical Institute in Ryazan .

In 1982 he was appointed full professor of philosophy in Mühlhausen and dismissed after the GDR joined the Federal Republic in 1990.

From 1992 to 1994 he worked as the editor of the Marx-Engels Complete Edition (MEGA) in Berlin, and since April 1994 as a freelancer at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences for MEGA. This was followed by training to become a company and administrative assistant.

From 1997 to March 2011 he worked in the Marx-Engels Department of the Bureau for the Collection and Translation of the Works of Marx, Engels, Lenin and Stalin at the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in Beijing . There he was involved as a permanent advisor in the processing of volumes of the second Chinese edition of the works of Marx and Engels, which are edited on the basis of the MEGA, and in the Chinese edition of selected works by Marx and Engels (10 volumes). Since April 2006, Kopf has been a member of the World Society for Political Economy (WAPE).

Eike Kopf published 350 papers on MEGA.

Eike Kopf was a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany until 1989 , then a member of the Communist Party of Germany for a few years (1990) and then joined the German Communist Party .
