Boris Netsvetaev

Boris Netsvetaev ( Russian Борис Нецветаев , transcribed Boris Nezwetajew ; born November 29, 1977 in Leningrad ) is a Russian jazz pianist who lives in Hamburg.

Live and act

Since 1983, Netsvetaev received music lessons at the Children's Music School No. 26 in Leningrad with a focus on the piano. From 1992 to 1996 he attended the Rimsky-Korsakow Higher Music School in Saint Petersburg, where he graduated with a diploma in music theory and composition. Since 1997 he has been studying at the Hamburg University of Music and Performing Arts with Dieter Glawischnig and Wolfgang Schlüter . In 1999 he took part in the Banff International Jazz Workshop in Canada, where he was tutored by Kenny Werner , Joe Lovano , Dave Holland , Hugh Fraser and Dave Douglas . There were also workshops with Ed Thigpen andRichie Beirach .

Netsvetaev has been part of Steve Reid's band since 2000 , with whom he recorded three albums and toured internationally. He also appeared on television with his band Impact in 2001. In 2002 he founded the Hammer Piano Trio with Philipp Steen and Kai Bussenius , with which he has presented two albums. He is also a member of Wolfgang Schlueter's quartet and has performed with Keith Copeland , John Marshall , Herb Geller , Lew Soloff , Franco Ambrosetti , Billy Harper , Howard Johnson , Danny Gottlieb and Monty Waters .

Since 1999, Netsvetaev has performed at international festivals in Bulgaria, France, the Czech Republic, Great Britain and Switzerland, but also at the Leverkusener Jazz Days , the Ingolstadt Jazz Days , the Hamburg Jazz Days and the Elbjazz Festival. There were also studio recordings with Matthias Höfs and Ryoma as well as radio productions by NDR (with the band The Q and the NDR Bigband as well as guests George Gruntz and Wolfgang Schlüter).

Prizes and awards

In November 2000 Netsvetaev received the Medica pro Musica award . In 2006 he received the Dr. Langner Jazz Scholarship.
