Kai Bussenius

Kai Luke Bussenius (* 30th June 1976 in Bremen ) is a German jazz - drummer .

Live and act

Bussenius learned to play drums at the age of nine. From 1996 to 2002 he studied drums at the University of Music and Theater in Hamburg with Wolfgang Haffner , Hans Dekker , Ed Thigpen , Gene Jackson and Gerry Brown . He received musical impulses from the department head Dieter Glawischnig and from Wolfgang Schlüter . From 1999 to 2002 Bussenius was a member of the Federal Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Peter Herbolzheimer .

Bussenius has been leading his own trio since 2002 with Michael Wollny on piano and Lucas Lindholm on double bass. The CD This Town was released in 2004 by Mons Records . In the same year he formed the Hammer Piano Trio with Boris Netsvetaev and Philipp Steen .

As a sideman he played with musicians such as John Abercrombie , Kenny Wheeler , Lew Soloff , Franco Ambrosetti , Gary Husband , Wolfgang Schlueter, Herb Geller , Dave Liebman , Joja Wendt , Buggy Braune , Tom Gäbel and Ulita Knaus .

Scholarships

Bussenius received a DAAD scholarship, which he spent in New York from 2004 to 2005. In 2007 he received the jazz scholarship of the Dr. EA Langner Foundation for Hamburg jazz musicians.
