Lucas Lindholm

Lucas-Hans Lindholm-ash , known as Lucas Lindholm , (* 2. March 1943 in Lund ) is a Swedish bassist of the Modern Jazz .

Live and act

Lindholm grew up in a musical family and began playing the cello and piano at the age of nine . At the age of 13 he switched to the double bass ; a year later he was playing with dance and jazz bands. At the local music school, Lindholm received classical double bass lessons from the age of 15; soon he also played in the local youth orchestra.

After completing his military service, he moved to Malmö , where he accompanied American jazz musicians such as Johnny Griffin and Dexter Gordon . He played with Gordon for many years in different line-ups. In addition, he completed a classical double bass course at the conservatory; At that time he was particularly active as a studio musician on the electric bass . Then he moved to Stockholm, where he also worked with Kenny Dorham , Toots Thielemans , Georg Riedel and Lars Berghagen .

In 1970 Lindholm first worked for the North German Broadcasting Corporation ; the following year, Franz Thon brought him to the NDR dance orchestra, from which the NDR big band emerged via the NDR studio band . He was a permanent member there until 2008 and was involved in numerous productions with jazz greats such as Phil Wilson , Joe Pass , Heiner Stadler , Howard Johnson , Albert Mangelsdorff , Heinz Sauer , Mathias Rüegg , Michael Gibbs , Norma Winstone and Stan Tracey . Peter Herbolzheimer also brought him into his Rhythm Combination & Brass. He can also be heard on albums with Janne Schaffer , Chet Baker , Herb Geller , Michael Naura , Wolfgang Schlüter , Christoph Oeding, Klaus Weiss , Kai Bussenius , Hannes Wader , Ernst Jandl , Harald Juhnke , Stefan Gwildis , Bert Kaempfert and Kai Warner .

In 1985 Lindholm was also appointed professor for double bass and electric bass in the jazz department at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater .
