Boris Dmitrijewitsch Parygin ( Russian Борис Дмитриевич Парыгин ; born June 19, 1930 in Leningrad ; † April 9, 2012 in Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian philosopher, sociologist and psychologist . He is considered a leading exponent of the philosophical-sociological direction in social psychology and as its founder in Russia.

Life

Parygin graduated from the Philosophical Faculty of Saint Petersburg State University (then LGU, 1953). He obtained a doctorate in philosophy and completed his habilitation on the subject of "Social psychology as a science (questions of history, methodology and theory)" ( LGU , 1967).

As a professor and dean of research, he taught at the Philosophical Faculty of Leningrad University (1953–1957); He also worked at the Medical Institute for Pediatrics (1957–1962). He was a professor at the Leningrad State Institute of Education called Hearts, where he founded the Laboratory for Social Psychological Research and the first Faculty of Social Psychology in the USSR (1968–1976). He headed the Department of Social-Psychological Problems at the Institute for Social-Economic Problems at the Russian Academy of Sciences (1976-1992). At the St. Petersburg University for the Humanities, he headed the Chair of Social Psychology (SPbGUP, 1992–2012), which he founded.

• developed the theoretical foundations of social psychology as an independent system of science: methodology, subject matter and areas of application, structure, functions and status in the field of humanities and natural science knowledge (1960–1964).
• Developed a conception of the nature, dynamics and role of the public mood in the life of society (1964–1966).
• created and argued foundations for general social psychological theory, represented by two basic categories - personality and communication (1960–1971).
• developed methods of diagnosis, forecasting and regulation of the socio-psychological climate in society (1976–1981).
• Developed concepts and methods for assessing the psychological readiness of the authorities to administer the area under the conditions of social transformation (1986–1992).
• developed the training tools for post-diagnostic correction of intra-group relationships (1992–1994).
• worked out certain peculiarities of the phenomenology of the leading role and the methods of its classification (1973–1999).
• shaped and tested the structural-dynamic approach to the modeling of social-psychological phenomena (1999).

Parygin wrote 10 large monographs and more than 400 articles, some of which have been translated into other languages ​​(English, French, German, Japanese, Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese, Bulgarian, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Lithuanian, Latvian and others) .

Among the scientists who were important to him, Parygin named: Gordon Allport , Gustave Le Bon , Karl Marx , Friedrich Engels , Georgi Plechanow , Jacob Moreno , Sigmund Freud , Arthur Schopenhauer , Nicolai Hartmann , Georges Gurvich, Talcott Parsons , Erich Fromm , Paul Baran .
