  • Karstadt real estate: In 2007 the Highstreet consortium(consisting of Borletti, RREEF , Pirelli RE , Goldman Sachs and Generali ) took a 49% stake in the Karstadt real estate of the German department store group Arcandor . Borletti offered Arcandor a cross-shareholding in the Karstadt premium stores (including KaDeWe in Berlin, Alsterhaus in Hamburg and Oberpollinger in Munich), but this did not materialize. As of June 2009, 85% of Karstadt's properties belong to this consortium. In the wake of Arcandor's bankruptcy in June 2009, Borletti again expressed interest in taking over the most profitable houses. At the end of July 2010, after the bidding period had expired, Borletti submitted a purchase bid for Karstadt. This wascriticizedby Karstadt insolvency administrator Görg as "without substance" and rejected.
