Reviews

The album received mostly above-average reviews. track4-info.de described Kid Rock as probably the most upright American today . The album is one of the most original American albums in recent years . Care is an incredibly tastefully pearly jewel of country and classic rock, played freely and wonderfully authentically classical instrumented . At laut.de the album got less good reviews, it was inflated and pretentious . The self-proclaimed "Rock'n'Roll Jesus" torments himself as chubby and oversteer as a broken car horn through a dirty dozen of all-world tracks . cdstarts came to an average conclusion and awarded 6 out of 10 possible points. No question about it, the song material on “Born Free” is quite coherent and has been recorded excellently by various top musicians such as Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) on drums and Benmont Tench (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers) on piano and organ. On the length of the album, however, the bite and thieving fun of provocation of earlier days is missing a little. As a result, the limitless relaxation seems almost deadly serious again, which at the end of the day does not go well with Kid Rock .
