Bose Park (Berlin)
Bose Park

The Bose Park , which was still Neuer Park until 1955 , is located in the Berlin district of Tempelhof between Bosestraße , Manteuffelstraße , Richnowstraße and Schöneberger Straße . It is named after the adjacent Bosestrasse, which was named in honor of General Friedrich Julius Wilhelm Graf von Bose (1809-1894).

Brief history and design

In 1914 the Tempelhof community bought fallow land from private individuals . On part of it was a pool that was filled in. Then the councilors had plantings made and a system of paths laid out, and the green area was opened to the public for recreational use. Old tombs from the 19th century form a boundary to Stolbergstrasse.

The park has two lawns for sunbathing, a playground, a sports field with soccer goals and basketball hoops , and a boseclub - a meeting point "with a wide range of offers for children and young people and also a place for parents and neighbors to meet and exchange".

Jung NDR 130 in Bose Park

The club includes a football field and another space dedicated to the theme of the train station : A real decommissioned locomotive from the Arnold Jung Lokomotivfabrik company , type NDR 130 with a track width of 1435 mm from 1934, was installed there. There are also two wooden locomotives, a ticket booth and a barrier.

The park is popular with runners as it offers extensive green terrain in conjunction with the Alten Park , Franckepark and Lehnepark . The district plans as of May 2018 provide for the upgrading of the four parks to be carried out in sections as part of the project to upgrade the Bosepark, Lehnepark, Alter Park and Franckepark green spaces .

The south-western access to the park (Bosestrasse / Manteuffelstrasse) is barrier-free . From the direction of Richnowstrasse, stairs lead into the park area.
