The Boss peak is 2,170 m high and isolated mountain in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the northwest section of the Victory Mountains, it rises 13 km northeast of Thomson Peak on the east side of the mouth of the Jutland Glacier in the Greenwell Glacier .
The northern group of the 1963 to 1964 campaign as part of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition named him after one of the nicknames of the British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton (1874-1922).
