The settlement Bowanenkowo ( Russian Бованенково ) is the logistical center of a natural gas field in Russia .
Geographical location
Bowanenkowo is located in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug in the northwest of the Asian part of Russia, in the western central part of the Yamal Peninsula , about 30 km from the west coast of the peninsula. It is located on the left bank of the Sjojacha ( Сёяха ), a tributary of the Murtyjacha ( Муртыяха ).
economy
The nearby natural gas field has been developed by Gazprom since 2012 . By 2017, two 1260 km long pipelines had been completed, which lead through the Baidara Bay of the Kara Sea to Uchta .
traffic
The settlement has a train station at 525 km of the Obskaya – Karskaya railway line , the northernmost operating railway line in the world. A branch line to the Sabetta port ( Сабетта ) on the east coast of the Yamal Peninsula is to be built from here in the next few years .
The airport of the same name is located southeast of the settlement.
