Geographical location

Brünnstadt is located in the north of the Frankenwinheim municipality. To the north lies the Kolitzheim district of Herlheim , in the northeast the so-called Hörnauwald with the lake of the same name. In the east is the former district town of Gerolzhofen , in the south Frankenwinheim. The district of Kitzingen begins in the south-west with the Volkach district of Krautheim , and in the west lies Zeilitzheim . The Franconian Marienweg leads past Brünnstadt .

history

The place was mentioned for the first time in the Carolingian era, when it was called "Brunonsteti". The name refers to a village well. In 1182 the Cistercian monastery Ebrach acquired some goods in the village that had previously belonged to the Würzburg ministerial Friedrich von Brünnstadt. In 1261 the village belonged entirely to the monastery and was assigned to the official village of Sulzheim.

In 1678, the Ebrach abbot Alberich Degen consecrated the local cemetery in Brünnstadt and had a church built. In 1779 there was the so-called parish fair. The Hochstift Würzburg demanded from its subjects that all parishes had to celebrate the church fair on the Sunday after Martini. The Brünnstadters refused and celebrated in September. Thereupon the Gerolzhöfer city bailiff moved into the village with armed men. In 1977 Brünnstadt was incorporated into Frankenwinheim.

Attractions

There are a large number of architectural monuments in Brno. The center is the 17th century church. It is dedicated to St. Boniface and was expanded between 1754 and 1780. Due to the growth of the community, the church was given a transept in 1936 . Inside, the furnishings of the 18th century predominate. The altarpiece of the high altar shows the coronation of Mary and comes from an unknown artist.

As a Catholic place, Brno city is characterized by many wayside shrines and small monuments in the village. The statue of St. Wendelin stands on the village square . It dates from 1745 and was renewed in 1927. A war memorial from 1921 was decorated with the patroness of Franconia. The oldest wayside shrine is the so-called tanning knife wayside shrine on the Seewiesen. It was created in 1593 and is reminiscent of a gruesome murder.
