Brantt Robert Myhres (born March 18, 1974 in Edmonton , Alberta ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player . During his career, he played for the Tampa Bay Lightning , Philadelphia Flyers , San Jose Sharks , Nashville Predators , Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League .
Career
Myhres initially played for four years from 1990 to 1994 in the Western Hockey League for the Portland Winter Hawks , Lethbridge Hurricanes and Spokane Chiefs . There he had his strongest year in the 1993/94 season when he collected 63 points in 61 games, but mostly stood out due to his many minutes in the penalty box.
After he was selected in the fifth round of the NHL Entry Draft in 1992 in 97th position by the Tampa Bay Lightning , he was after the end of the 1993/94 season for the first time in the squad of a professional team. He played two games for the Atlanta Knights , the Lightning farm team from the International Hockey League . With these he also began the season 1994/95 , which was shortened by the lockout , but came to 15 missions with the Lightning after the start of the NHL season. After two more years in the Tampa Bays franchise , the left winger was transferred to the Edmonton Oilers in the summer of 1997 , who handed him over to the Philadelphia Flyers after just three months and without a single stake. The Canadian only stayed in Philadelphia for twelve months before signing a contract with the San Jose Sharks as a free agent . After he was also unable to assert himself there, further changes to the Nashville Predators , Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins followed . For all teams, Myhres always had to be content with a reservist role for the NHL squad and mostly played in the minor leagues for the club's farm teams.
In the 2003/04 season Myhres remained without a contract and only signed a contract with the Lowell Lock Monsters before the 2004/05 season . He left this after a year and moved to the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights , where he played his last season in North America. For the 2006/07 season, the Canadian went to Europe to play for the Newcastle Vipers from the British Elite Ice Hockey League in nine games before finally ending his career.
