The Brentenköpf are a 3019 m above sea level. A. high double summit of the Schober group in Carinthia . The higher south summit was first climbed on August 2, 1890 by Ludwig Purtscheller , the north summit in August 1923 by L. Patera .
location
The Brentenköpfe are located in the northern center of the Schobergruppe on the border between the communities of Heiligenblut am Großglockner in the west and Großkirchheim in the east. The double summit consists of the main or south summit and the slightly lower north summit ( 3008 m above sea level ). To the northeast of the Brentenköpf is the Hohe Beil ( 3126 m above sea level ), from which the northeast ridge of the northern summit of the Brentenköpf is separated by an unnamed notch ( 2883 m above sea level ). The southeast ridge of the south summit stretches down to the vicinity of the Gradenalm in the valley of the Gradenbach . The much shorter south-west ridge of the south summit runs to the Brentenscharte ( 2841 m above sea level ), which marks the transition to the Kögele . The elongated north-west ridge stretches in turn to Mitterseekamp ( 2638 m above sea level ). To the east of the Brentenköpf lies the Ausserkar, to the south the Innerkar, where the waters of the same name, Ausserkarbach and Innerkarbach, arise. The Langtalseen lie to the northwest . The closest alpine base is the Elberfelder Hütte in the west.
Promotion opportunities
The normal route to the Brentenköpfe leads from the Elberfelder Hütte initially marked to the Hinterer Langtalsee and then pathless into the cirque between the southeast ridges of Hinterseekamp and Mitterseekamp over scree to the Brentenscharte. Since the ridge rocks in the area of the notch are brittle, they are subsequently bypassed on the uppermost Karboden of the Innerkar. The final ascent finally takes place over the southeast ridge of the Brentenköpf in climbing ( III ).
