The Brenzpopf or Brenzursprung is a large karst spring in Königsbronn in the Heidenheim district on the eastern Swabian Alb , in Baden-Württemberg . The draining water forms the Brenz tributary to the Danube .
geography
The Brenztopf is easily accessible on a rock face in the southern part of the main town of Königsbronn . It is about 500 m above sea level. NN at the foot of the Herwartstein, one of the three house rocks, right next to the town hall near the train station. The Brenztopf is the start and end point of the Königsbronn route of the Karstquellenweg .

The discharge of the karst spring fluctuates between 230 and over 20,000 liters per second (an average of 1270 l / s), making it one of the strongest springs in Germany. The source pot is up to 4.3 meters deep. The catchment area includes parts of the northern Albuch and extends as far as Irmannsweiler, Bartholomä , Amalienhof and Zang . The spring water rises from an opening several meters deep. The inflow of water to the source takes place through underground crevices, crevices and cavities in the karst mountains.
