Brett Smith (born August 31, 1981 in Guelph , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Fort Wayne Komets in the Central Hockey League since 2011 .

Career

Brett Smith began his career as a hockey player at Ferris State University , which he attended from 2000 to 2004, while he was also active for their ice hockey team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . The center then switched to professional ice hockey and played from 2004 to 2006 for the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs from the Central Hockey League . He started the 2006/07 season with the Phoenix Roadrunners in the ECHL and finished them with their league rivals Reading Royals . From 2007 to 2011 he ran again for the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in the CHL and won the Miron Cup , the championship title of the CHL , with the team in the 2010/11 season .

After the Mudbugs resolved, Smith was committed to the 2011/12 season by CHL participant Fort Wayne Komets .
