Brevin Adon Knight (born November 8, 1975 in Livingston , New Jersey ) is a retired American basketball player .

NBA

Knight played four years for Stanford University , which he left as the best assist and ball thief in team history. Knight was then selected in the 1997 NBA Draft in 16th place by the Cleveland Cavaliers . He established himself as a starter in his rookie year and scored 9.0 points, 8.2 assists and 2.5 steals in 80 games. He also led the league in steals per game. Knight was also named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team . The next two years he remained the starting point guard, rather he was ousted by Andre Miller in the 2000-2001 season and was transferred to the Atlanta Hawks . In the years that followed, Knight played for several NBA teams, mostly as a point guard replacement. It was not until the Charlotte Bobcats that he had his place as a starter again for several years and came in the 2005-06 season to his individually best season with 12.6 points, 8.8 assists and 2.3 steals per game. However, he did not reach the playoffs during this time. For the last two years he has played with the Los Angeles Clippers and Utah Jazz , with limited playing time .

After retiring, Knight worked as a commentator for the Memphis Grizzlies games in 2010 .
