Brice Soniano

Brice Soniano (* 1979 in Narbonne ) is a French jazz and improvisation musician ( double bass ).

Soniano discovered the bass while listening to the Bill Evans album You Must Believe in Spring and began classical training in 1997 with Jean Ané at the municipal conservatory in Béziers. At an early age he took part in numerous courses such as Bernard Cazauran, Eddie Gomez , Jean-Paul Céléa , Riccardo Del Fra and Marc Johnson . In 2005 he graduated from the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag after studying classical and jazz with Knut Guettler, Hein van de Geyn , Jean-Paul Everts and Frans van der Hoeven. He then lived with Mette Burild and Toma Gouband at the Baka Pygmies in the rainforest of Cameroon .

Since his return he has worked as a professional musician in many European countries. He initially worked with musicians such as Harmen Fraanje , Michael Moore , Christian Mendoza and, in the field of new music, with the Orkest De Volharding and the string ensemble Jargon by Maurice Horsthuis , but also in solo performances. As a soloist, he led the Orchester de Montpellier Opera now from Mathis Nitschke on. With Joachim Badenhorst he formed the duo Rawfishboys , which released two albums. He also worked with the groups 3/4 Peace, Llop, Lionel Beuvens Motu, Erik Bogaerts Kwartet, Carate Urio Orchestra and the Natashia Kelly Group. In 2012 he recorded his debut album Beyond Time with Toma Gouband, Joachim Badenhorst, Nelson Veras and Juan Parra Cancino.
