Brigitta Busch (born 1955 in Vienna ) is an Austrian - Swiss Slavic scholar , communication scientist and former professor of linguistics at the University of Vienna . Busch is an expert in intercultural communication and multilingualism and has led, among other things, projects of the Council of Europe on these topics. Life

Brigitta Busch grew up in Vienna, where she graduated with distinction in 1972 . In 1973 she began a three-year apprenticeship as an agricultural master (with a focus on regional development ) in France and Switzerland and then worked on farms in Carinthia and France until 1992. At the same time, from 1980 to 1992, she worked as a freelance journalist for the Fédération Européenne des Radios Libres and Le Monde diplomatique , among others .

In 1989/1990 Busch started her studies in Slavic Studies and intercultural communication at the University of Klagenfurt , earned her master's degree in 1996 with a thesis on intercultural and bilingual training in Austria and in 1998 with the dissertation The virtual village square. Activities at the Council of Europe

During her studies she worked from 1992 to 1999 at the Human Rights Department and the Political Department of the Council of Europe . In 2009 she became a member of the Expert Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities. As part of this activity, she was repeatedly a member of delegations reporting on the situation of minorities in various countries; including Cyprus, Norway, Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation. Busch was Vice President of the committee from 2016 to 2018.
