Brigitte Labs-Ehlert

Brigitte Labs-Ehlert (* 1951 in Hamburg ) is a German Germanist , author , bookseller and general manager . She became known as the artistic director of the literature and music festivalwege durch das Land in Ostwestfalen-Lippe .

Life

Brigitte Labs-Ehlert grew up in Worpswede near Bremen . She worked as a Germanist in Frankfurt am Main and moved to Detmold with her husband in 1990 . In the same year she initiated the founding of the Association of Literature Office Ostwestfalen-Lippe in Detmold , of which she was managing director until 2016. The association is supported by the city of Detmold, the Lippe district and the Lippe regional association . It promotes literature and literary life in the Detmold administrative district .

In the year 2000, Brigitte Labs-Ehlert initiated the first literature and music festival “ Weg durch das Land ”. The idea is to have well-known actors, musicians, poets and writers in unusual places in Eastern Westphalia occur for example castles ( Castle Wendlinghausen , Castle Rheder ) estates ( Good Böckel , Good Holzhausen ) or industrial buildings. Brigitte Labs-Ehlert became director of the festival, which has been taking place every summer since 2000. Inger Christensen , Klaus Maria Brandauer , Bruno Ganz , Günter Grass , Hannelore Hoger and Angela Winkler were among the guests of the festival .

At the beginning of 2016, errors in the awarding of contracts by the festivals were discovered, which led to the state of North Rhine-Westphalia claiming back funds. In the course of the investigation, Brigitte Labs-Ehlert resigned from her offices. However, the preliminary investigation was discontinued in 2017 due to a lack of sufficient suspicion.

In 2019 Labs-Ehlert was a member of the jury for the German Prize for Natural Writing , which the publisher Matthes & Seitz Berlin is promoting together with the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation .
