Brigitte Woggon

Brigitte Woggon b. Steiner (born November 14, 1943 in Naumburg ; † July 28, 2019 near Zurich ) was a German psychiatrist and specialist journalist .

Life

After completing her medical degree in Berlin , she worked at the Psychiatric University Clinic in Zurich from 1970 until her retirement in 2008 . In 1973 she became the first woman to be senior physician . From 1991 she led a special outpatient consultation and a psychopharmacotherapeutic information center for doctors, and from 1996 until her retirement in 2008 she also taught pharmacotherapy at the Medical Faculty of the University of Zurich . As a publicist, she emerged from her therapeutic practice with her textbook Treatment with Psychotropic Drugs and two books. As an advocate of high-dose pharmacotherapies ("woggonizing"), she was repeatedly criticized.

In addition to her work as a professor of pharmacotherapy at the Psychiatric University Clinic, she was President of the Equal Opportunities Commission of the University of Zurich for seven years.

From 2008 to the end of 2015, Woggon worked in the Woggon practice group in Zurich. She died on July 28, 2019 at the age of 75 near Zurich.
