description

The start of sales was postponed to autumn 2008 due to necessary improvements. The vehicle should then offer better values in the crash test through revision. In the ADAC crash test in March 2009, however, the vehicle was not able to convince and did not receive a five-star rating due to a lack of safety equipment (according to the old standard (until 2009) the BS4 would have received 3 stars). The drive is taken over by a Mitsubishi four- cylinder in-line engine with 1.68 l or 1.8 l displacement , which develops 74 kW or 100 kW (101 hp or 136 hp). A self-developed 1.8-liter gasoline engine with turbocharger is expected to produce 125 kW (170 hp) and is already available in China. A diesel engine for the European market was in development. In North Korea the BS4 is assembled as a CKD kit and sold under the name Pyeonghwa Huiparam II , briefly also as Pyeonghwa Junma . In China, the BS4 is called ZhongHua Junjie and ZhongHua Zunchi . The model Brilliance ZhongHua M3 is named as an import model for the Middle East .

While the turbo model is only available with a four-speed automatic transmission , the basic engine is only available with a manual five-speed transmission.

On the one hand, the BS4 is to win customers with quite extensive equipment, such as electrically adjustable leather seats, automatic air conditioning , parking aid and similar, on the other hand, the ESP , which is already mandatory in the middle class today, is not available.

According to the manufacturer, the market launch was planned for the beginning of October 2008. A station wagon variant was planned for the first quarter of 2009.

In Egypt, the model is manufactured as a Brilliance Splendor in the BMW plant of the Bavarian Auto Manufacturing Company . However, the model is only available with Mitsubishi's 1.6-liter engine . The units produced in Egypt are two millimeters shorter than the Chinese original and are only offered with a manual 5-speed gearbox. The standard safety equipment includes the anti-lock braking system, electronic brake force distribution and an electronic differential lock, a driver and front passenger airbag and side impact protection developed by BMW for the Brilliance Galena .
