The tire manufacturer Dunlop became the new title sponsor of the series. The starting line-up for the third race of a race weekend was determined by the target order of the second race, but with the first ten in reverse order. In 2004, this rule was implemented for the second race with the target order of the first race. The cars of the top five in the championship were given championship ballast for the training session, qualifying and the first race.
