The 50th British Touring Car Championship season began on March 30, 2007 at Brands Hatch and ended on October 14 in Thruxton . The season included ten race weekends on eight different tracks. Two race weekends each took place at Brands Hatch and Thruxton Circuit. Three races were held on each race weekend. With the exception of the race at Knockhill Racing Circuit in Scotland, all races took place in England.
In October 2005, Alan J. Gow announced that the 2007 championship would only be decided by cars that comply with the FIA - Super 2000 regulations. Cars that were built and driven according to the BTC regulations were still allowed to participate.
The Independents' Trophy won Colin Turkington with 285 points, ahead of Mat Jackson with 270 points and Mike Jordan with 260 points. The Manufacturers' Championship decided Vauxhall short of 637 points for SEAT in front with 623 points. The BTCC Teams' Championship was won by SEAT Sport UK with 446 points, ahead of VX Racing with 421 points and Team Halfords with 345 points. The Independent Teams' Championship went to Team RAC with 363 points, followed by Jacksons Msport with 274 points and Team Eurotech Racing with 267 points.
