Broglie [ ˈbrɔj ] is the name of a family (originally Broglio or Broglia ) that came from Piedmont and was naturalized in France since 1656. They consisted of several military leaders (including three marshals of France ), historians, statesmen (including two prime ministers), members of the Académie française and produced a Nobel Prize in Physics , Louis-Victor de Broglie .

For the second marshal, François-Marie de Broglie , his barony Ferrières was raised to a duchy and a pairie Broglie. The area around what is now Broglie is located in the Eure department in the Normandy region .
