Broke with Expensive Taste is the debut album by American rapper Azealia Banks . It was released on November 7, 2014 by the Prospect Park label.

background

In January 2012, Banks signed a recording deal with Interscope and Polydor Records to work on their album, and a month later she announced the title of the album - Broke with Expensive Taste . A year later, she gave the labels a complete album. Banks initially thought that the album would be received positively, but those responsible informed her that there was no "hit single" on the album. For this reason she recorded the song Chasing Time for the project, but the label preferred Soda as the lead single, which Banks didn't want. So she terminated her contract with Interscope and Polydor in July 2014. She later signed a contract with Prospect Park.

Singles

The song 212 first appeared on the EP 1991 in 2012 . Due to the high success, the song was placed on their debut album. The song Luxury previously appeared on their mixtape Fantasea , released in 2012, and was also added to their debut album.

The first single from the album, namely the song Yung Rapunxel , was released on April 16, 2013. The video for the single was shot by Jam Sutton.

The song ATM Jam was originally planned as the second single , but instead the song Heavy Metal and Reflective became the second single, because the song flopped in the charts with Pharrell Williams . Heavy Metal and Reflective was released on July 28, 2014.

The third single Chasing Time was released on September 22, 2014. The song made it to number 48 in the Japanese charts.

On March 23, 2015, the album's last single, Ice Princess, was released .
