Broken Lizard (dt about. Cracked or broken lizard ) is an American comedy troupe known for their films Super Troopers - The Super Cops , Club Dread , and Beerfest . The five regular members are Jay Chandrasekhar , Kevin Heffernan , Steve Lemme , Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske . They write the scripts together and play the leading roles in their films, with Jay Chandrasekhar also directing in most cases.

Broken Lizard's first film, Puddle Cruiser , takes place on the Colgate University campus and in the city of Hamilton , New York , where the comedy troupe graduated. Her first film to be shown to a wider audience was Super Troopers , which is about five apparently clumsy police officers from the Vermont Highway Patrol who are waging a guerrilla war with rival city ​​police . The film was presented at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival and was sold by Cinetic Media and acquired by Fox Searchlight , which released it worldwide in February 2002.
