action
The Vermont State Troopers office in Spurbury is on the verge of collapse as the state does not want to afford a second unit besides the city police. But the Troopers are tough fighters and leave no stone unturned to prove to the governor that they are the better cops. Unfortunately, their homemade idiocy stands in the way of this endeavor.
The super troopers
- Arcot "Thorny" Ramathorn (Jay Chandrasekhar) - The hardened, stoic , although with a slight sense of humor , the highest-ranking trooper. He's dating a hippie woman and has a son named Arlo. His origins are a running gag in the course of the film, as he is constantly being put into cultures that do not correspond to his ethnicity . In fact, he is Indian .
- Robert "Rabbit" Roto (Erik Stolhanske) - The newcomer to the troop, which is why everyone calls him the "newbie". He is often the target of jokes in the troops, but at the same time always tries to prove that he can keep up with the others.
- MacIntyre "Mac" Womack (Steve Lemme) - He's definitely the trooper who puts his heart and soul into it. One of his favorite tricks is the repetition, although he doesn't stop at tricking his colleagues.
- Jeff Foster (Paul Soter) - undisputedly probably the quietest of all troopers who courted the Spurbury policewoman Ursula (Marisa Coughlan).
- Rodney "Rod" Farva (Kevin Heffernan) - The overweight and not-so-bright trooper is the black, unloved sheep in the middle of the highwaycops. Due to his inability to control his anger, he was relegated to the control room on the radio.
- John O'Hagan ( Brian Cox ) - The Troopers' captain and mentor once liked to hit the streets himself, playing pranks on people. He is now taking it easy and worried about his office, which is due to be closed due to budget cuts.
Remarks
- Although the film is about the Vermont State Police, it was actually shot in Southern Dutchess County in upstate New York . If you see a scene from the Spurbury Police Station, you see the Beacon (New York) Police Department and the highway scenes were filmed along Route 117 near the " Big Apple ".
- The couple who are so obscenely yelled at by Farva at the police control are in real life the actor's parents. They knew that he would say something indecent, but were not prepared for: "License and registration, chickenfucker!".
- The couple that has a Dutch accent in the German version is a German couple in the American version.
- The Afghan cartoon that the super cops watch over and over again in the film also exists in real life.
- Many viewers were upset about the shameless "rape" of a lifelike plush bear by the Super Troopers.
- Farva orders six “Schlitz” at the reception, which is also the beer brewed in the film Bierfest .
Reviews
"Tasteless comedy full of rough jokes and foolish jokes, late-pubescent male jokes and annoying situation comedy ."
“Nonsense that is sometimes as unbearable as a Didi Hallervorden sketch, then again exudes the crude joke of the Farrelly brothers or the charm of earlier Zucker / Abrahams comedies. In particular, their anarchy: Or does the determination of the weighting speed by radar pistol correspond to the service regulations? "
