Bruce Bickford (athlete)
Bruce Bickford ( Bruce Emery Bickford; born March 12, 1957 in East Benton , Maine ) is a retired American long-distance runner .
He took part in the World Cross Country Championships three times, each time winning a medal with the US team. In 1981 in Madrid he came in 19th place and won silver, in 1985 in Lisbon he was tenth and won bronze, and in 1986 in Colombier followed with a 15th place in the individual ranking, another bronze medal.
In 1986 he finished second in the Philadelphia Half Marathon . The following year he came in 17th place at the Boston Marathon and won the 10,000 m at the 1987 Pan American Games in Indianapolis .
In 1988 he won the same distance in the US eliminations for the Olympic Games in Seoul , where he finished in 18th place.
In 1985 he became US champion over 10,000 m.
