Bruce Straley (2014)

Bruce Straley (born October 30, 1978 ) is an American game director, artist and designer . He previously worked for video game developer Naughty Dog . He is best known for his work on the video games The Last of Us , Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End .

Career

In 1999 he worked in the art department for the video game Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko . In 2007 he co-directed and art director of Uncharted: Drake's Fate and in 2009 was game director of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves . His subsequent projects were The Last of Us and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End , where he also served as game director. Straley and Neil Druckmann were nominated for Best Directors by The Daily Telegraph for work on The Last of Us . The award was eventually given to Davey Wreden for his work on The Stanley Parable (2013). Straley later continued his role as game director for the downloadable expansion pack The Last of Us: Left Behind . For his work on Uncharted 4: A Thief's End , Straley, together with Eben Cook and Iki Ikram, received the Visual Effects Society Award for excellent visual effects in a real-time project. Straley left Naughty Dog in September 2017 and did not return to direct The Last of Us Part II .
