Brufut Run
The Brufut Run , also Brufut Marathon , is an annual athletic running event with its destination in Brufut in the West African state of Gambia and has been held in December since 1994, organized by the Brufut Marathon Run Association.
history
On December 18, 2010, the event was held for the 16th time with more than 400 participants. The road race was founded by the Gambian sports official Mamudou Max Jallow. The event has the motto Run Against Hunger (Eng. Run against hunger). and is supported by the United Nations World Food Program . Men run 15 kilometers, women 8 kilometers, there is also a 42-kilometer bike race and a 1-kilometer walk . A 42-kilometer run is planned for 2012.
The 16th run (2011) started at the Traffic Lights Junction on Kairaba Avenue and was won for the fifth time after 41 minutes and 15 kilometers at the finish at the Brufut Lower Basic School by Lamin Sanneh.
The 17th run should take place on December 17th 2011 and lead 21 kilometers (as a half marathon ) from the St Charles Lwanga Church on the Brikama Highway in Serekunda - Faji Kunda via Senegambia to Brufut.
