Bruno Tietz

Bruno Tietz (born February 2, 1933 in Bischofsburg ; † July 22, 1995 at Brilon ) was a German economist and trade expert.

Life

Bruno Tietz studied business administration at the University of Cologne from 1953 to 1955 , before graduating from Saarland University in 1958 as a Dr. rer. oec. doctorate and obtained his habilitation in business administration in 1969 . In addition to teaching at the Saarland University, Tietz also held teaching positions at the University of Tübingen and the University of Metz .

The business administration teacher and most recently director of the commercial institute in the institute for empirical economic research at the University of Saarbrücken, died on July 22, 1995 at the age of 62 when his self-controlled Piper crashed . On a flight from Saarbrücken to Porta Westfalica , the private plane disappeared from the radar over the Sauerland near Brilon for unknown reasons. Only the next morning was Tietz found dead in the wreckage of the machine.

Act

Tietz has dealt intensively with new forms of cooperation between trading companies and between trade and industry. He gave important impetus to the development of franchising in Germany and is also considered the "spiritual father" of the specialist store concept that is now established in retail . After the collapse of the Eastern Bloc , he was particularly interested in the future trade landscape in the Central and Eastern European countries.

Since 1971 Tietz has been a full professor in Saarbrücken, a member of the supervisory and advisory board of various companies (including Metro subsidiary Asko AG , Saarbrücken) and a member of national and international bodies such as the German Council for Urban Development.

The volumes Consumer and Retail or Fundamentals of Retail Research are among the standard works of commercial management by the founding publisher of the Marketing Magazine - Journal for Research and Practice (ZFP) .
