Location of the city of Ebermannstadt in the Forchheim district

Buckenreuth is a village in Franconian Switzerland that has belonged to the city of Ebermannstadt since the administrative reform . Until then, it formed a separate community with about 480 inhabitants together with the neighboring village of Wohlmuthshüll . When the mayor, the only party member of the NSDAP in the community, died in 1942 , no one was willing to join the party to take over the post of mayor. The community of Wohlmuthshüll was then provisionally administered from Ebermannstadt.

The US occupation power honored this behavior of the population by allowing the first free elections in Germany in July 1945 .

On January 1, 1972, Wohlmuthshüll was incorporated with Buckenreuth to Ebermannstadt.
