history
Buda-Kaschaljowa was first mentioned in the middle of the 19th century as a village of state farmers. The construction of the Libava-Romensk Railway in 1873 increased the development of the timber industry and weaving. Nevertheless, most of the residents devoted themselves to agriculture. The village population increased from 95 in 1873 to 517 in 1897. The first school in Buda-Kaschaljowa was built in the 1890s and a hospital in 1914. A denominational school was opened in 1910. In 1917 the village became part of the RSFSR and from 1924 the BSSR . From August 14, 1941 Buda-Kaschaljowa was occupied by the Germans and many residents of the region took part in the partisan struggle. The region was liberated on November 27, 1943.
Buda-Kaschaljowa has had city status since 1971.
