Buenolândia is a district ( port .: Distrito ) in the municipality of Goiás Velho in the Brazilian state of Goiás in the microregion Rio Vermelho . It is located about 25 km northwest of Goiás Velho and 10 km north of the BR-070 federal road .

The current place name is reminiscent of Bartolomeu Bueno da Silva , a bandeirante and gold prospector . He and his brother-in-law João Leite Ortiz de Camargo were granted the right to use all rivers within the previously explored areas in Goiás by Dom Rodrigo César de Menezes on July 2, 1726, as well as almost 34 km of land ( seis léguas de terra ) from each bank of these rivers as a prospect for gold prospecting.

On his return to Goiás, Bueno found a good mine at the confluence of the Rio Bugre in the Rio Vermelho and in 1726 built the first settlement south of the confluence in Goiás, at that time just called Barra ( building shack ), later then Arraial da Barra ( area around Barra ) . It was of a purely provisional character and initially consisted of straw huts without solid constructions.

After more prolific mines emerged in the area in the following year, almost all of the residents left Barra and founded new settlements such as Ouro Fino (de: Goldschluff ), Ferreiro and Nossa Senhora Sant'Ana, from which today's Goiás Velho developed.

On July 1, 2009, the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Goiás proposed a project to restore Buenolândia, and in particular the house of Bartolomeu Bueno da Silva, and thus preserve another historical landmark of the region.
