Burkhard Reich (born December 1, 1964 in Fürstenwalde / Spree ) is a former German football player .

Burkhard Reich played for SG Dynamo Fürstenwalde in his youth and was brought to the BFC Dynamo junior school in 1977 as a 12-year-old . In 1981 Reich went back to his hometown club in Fürstenwalde at his own request - still as a youth - and played for it in the GDR league , the second highest division in the GDR. When Fürstenwalde took on BFC Dynamo in a test match, the record champions' coach, Jürgen Bogs , was so impressed by the tall defensive player that he brought him back to the BFC in the 1985/86 season , without knowing that Reich was already the children's and the Berlin youth sports school.

The Reich, strong in headers and two-way combat, who was always good for a goal, earned a regular place in the league team after the start of the new season in spring 1986 after 5 appearances in the BFC league team and won the GDR championship with the club in 1987 and 1988 as well as the FDGB-Pokal 1988 and 1989. After he had already been appointed to the GDR Olympic team, Reich also played 6 international games for the GDR national team between 1987 and 1990 , making his debut on May 13, 1987 in Brandenburg at 2: 0 against Czechoslovakia .

In 1991 the club, now playing under the name FC Berlin, failed to make the leap into German professional football, so Burkhard Reich switched to Bundesliga club Karlsruher SC . There he made a decisive contribution to the successful time of Baden and played 200 Bundesliga games for KSC between 1991 and 1998. In 1992 he was invited to a viewing course of the DFB , but did not make the leap into the national team. In 1994 he reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup with KSC , where the Badeners were eliminated after two draws only because of the away goals rule against Casino Salzburg .

After the relegation of Karlsruher SC to the second division in 1998, Reich initially remained loyal to the club, but when the promotion failed, he moved to VfB Leipzig in the Regionalliga , where he let his career end.

In the summer of 2000 he returned to KSC and worked there in marketing / merchandising, as a fan representative and as a team manager and sporting director of the U23 (KSC II). He has been the KSC team manager since the 2011/12 season. He is also co-founder, president and captain of "KSC-Allstars e. V. “ , the traditional team of the Karlsruher SC.
