Filip Tapalović (born October 22, 1976 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a former Croatian soccer player and current coach . Most recently he was employed in Australia on the Melbourne Victory coaching team .

Club career

Tapalović began his career at Fortuna Gelsenkirchen. He later moved to the youth team of FC Schalke 04 . In 1995 he moved to VfL Bochum . In 1997 he returned to FC Schalke 04. After two more years he moved to TSV 1860 Munich . From 2002 to 2005 Tapalović played again at VfL Bochum. In the 2005/06 season he played for FC Wacker Tirol in Austria. After the 2005/06 season he was without a club for half a year. In January 2007 he signed a contract with FC Carl Zeiss Jena until 2008. In the 2008/09 season he played for the Croatian HNK Rijeka and did not find a new club. A trial training at 1860 Munich was unsuccessful. He then ended his career.

In the 3-1 victory of Jena against 1860 Munich on February 23, 2007 Tapalović scored his first goal in the second division. It was by viewers of the ARD - Sportschau then to the gate of the week selected.

National team

Tapalović played three times in the Croatian U21 team in 1996/97 . In qualifying for the European Championship in 1998 , he was used in both games against Greece and in the home game against Denmark. He was also appointed to the senior national team three times . On May 8, 2002 he made his first game for Croatia against Hungary in Pécs . Two more appearances against Wales and in the European Championship qualifier against Estonia followed in the same year.

Trainer

At the beginning of 2013, Tapalović, who has the A license , became assistant coach at the A youth team at TSV 1860 Munich. In the summer of 2013 he was mainly responsible for the B-youth, which played in the B-junior Bundesliga . From April 2014 until the end of the season he was also assistant to interim coach Markus von Ahlen in the second division team of the Sechzger . In the 2014/15 season he and most of the players were promoted from the U17 to the U19 of TSV 1860. After von Ahlen was again head coach of the professional team in September, Tapalović was also appointed assistant coach again. In February 2015 he was on leave together with von Ahlen. Tapalović completed his soccer teacher training course at the Hennes-Weisweiler Academy in Hennef and received the UEFA Pro license on March 20, 2017 in Gravenbruch .

For the 2017/18 season he was assistant coach under Marco Kurz at the Australian club Adelaide United . Together they won the FFA Cup with the club in 2018 .

At the beginning of the 2019/20 season, the coaching team switched to league rivals Melbourne Victory . After playing 13 games, the team was 19 points behind the leaders and champions Sydney FC in mid-January 2020 and, in addition to four wins, had six defeats. As a result, the club separated from Kurz and his assistant Tapalović.

Filip is the brother of Toni Tapalović .
