Burkhardt Gorissen
Burkhardt Gorissen (* 1958 ) is a German author and journalist . From 2006 until his departure in April 2008 he was the grand speaker of the Grand Lodge of the Old Free and Accepted Masons of Germany , based in Berlin .
Life
Gorissen learned the trade of wholesale and foreign trade merchant . During this training he attended evening grammar school . After that studied it business administration . Since 1990 he has been a freelance author and journalist for various radio stations . Thematically, he dealt with fundamentalism , right-wing extremism , the rigidification of society through bureaucratic norms and human responsibility. In 1992 his play Vorabend Again was performed at the Schauspielhaus Kiel . He writes articles for Die Tagespost . He lives in Dülken and is unmarried.
In 1997 he joined a Masonic Lodge . He was master of the chair in Mönchengladbach and Cologne . In 2004 he was elected studio president (chairman) of a Cologne lodge of the " Old and Accepted Scottish Rite ". In 2007 Gorissen was involved in the organization of a large lodge meeting in Cologne, where the theologian Hans Küng was awarded the German Freemasons' Culture Prize .
With the decision that Freemasonry and Christianity were incompatible for him, he resigned from the Association of Freemasons in April 2008. He describes his separation process and his Masonic experiences in his book I Was a Freemason .
